Carl Rochford is a professional violinist and distinguished pedagogue with over three decades of teaching experience. He holds a Bachelor of Music (Hons), a Master’s in Violin Performance with Honours from MTU, and the LTCL in Violin Performance, reflecting the highest standards of training and achievement.
He refined his artistry under the guidance of internationally renowned violinists and pedagogues, including Gregory Ellis, Ruxandra Petcu-Colan, Mariana Sîrbu, and Adrian Petcu.
As a performer, Carl has appeared with some of Ireland’s leading ensembles, including the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and the Ulysses Orchestra in London. His orchestral work has also included performances with celebrated international artists such as José Carreras and Katherine Jenkins. Alongside these engagements, he maintains an active profile as a soloist and chamber musician, performing regularly in partnership with pianist Nicholas O’Halloran.
As the founder and director of the Kilkenny Violin Studio, Carl has established one of Ireland’s leading centres for violin education. His commitment to excellence has been nationally recognised with the Royal Irish Academy of Music Teacher Recognition Award, honouring outstanding standards in music teaching and student success.
Carl’s students consistently excel in RIAM and ABRSM examinations (Grades 1–8 and diplomas), with many selected for recognition concerts and pursuing advanced study in music.
Dedicated to cultivating both technical mastery and artistic expression, Carl Rochford is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished and respected violin educators in the region.
